Meko-the name is synonymous with music-classical,
rhythmic, contemporary, diverse, melodic, and, above all else, soulful.
Meko's first solo CD, The Journey, features original
music ranging "from gentle melodies to pulse pounding rhythms, performed
on the most ancient of musical instrument-the harp."
Meko's sophomore CD, the self-titled Meko, branches
out and embraces several musical genres, languages and, for the first
time, Meko himself on vocals. From the first track to the last the
unique melodies, unforgettable hooks and haunting tunes will have
listeners of all types swaying to the rhythms and singing along.
Meko is "infectious and delicious music that satisfies the soul."
Meko has just completed his third CD, Christmas at
the Castle, a gorgeous tapestry of traditional holiday music performed
on Celtic Harp, Flute and Cello.
Meko began his musical career as
a child...the protégé of a grandmother who was a concert
pianist and an aunt who is a world-famous harpist, author and art
historian.
This journey started as a toddler at the family piano
and continued when, at 11 years of age, Meko took up the harp and
began rigorous classical training. Years of sore fingers, tears of
frustration and the joy of making music followed-and as much as Meko
knew he loved the harp, he intuitively knew that the classical concert
stage was not where his destiny lay. Shortly thereafter, Meko formed
a band, wrote his first original songs, dabbled in vocals, and began
performing on the electric harp.
Today Meko's journey has brought him to new heights,
from romantic ballads and soul-searching songs to pulse pounding
beats that echo the very essence of Meko's soulful interpretation
in contemporary music.
Meko is based in Orlando, Florida, and has toured extensively
throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, the Middle
East, the Caribbean-the world, performing in both English and Spanish
languages.
In addition to touring, Meko is also a member of the
American Harp Society, the International Folk Harp Society and the
World Harp Congress. Accomplishments include being a two-time prize
winner of the International Jazz-Harp Competition, maintaining a
consistent top-20 ranking on Japanese radio, and receiving critical
acclaim worldwide.
Most recently Meko has been invited to perform at the
2005 World Expo in Aichi, Japan. |
